I think you'll agree, if there is anything our country and world could use a little bit more of ...it's more of Iowa's positive influence.
In Clarion, located in Wright County, I found a business that is trying to spread some of the best of what our state is offering to the rest of the Midwest.
That Iowa Girl was started in 2010 and it's story is very much worth reading about. That Iowa Girl is a distributor of Iowa made products. According to their website, they service nearly 30 different vendors in the state and deliver to over 300 stores in Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Minnesota.
Essentially, you have a local entrepreneur, Colette Johnson, who uses her experience, passion, and education to build a business by helping other local entrepreneurs get their products to market. Iowan helping Iowans. It's tailor made for the kind of story Iowa Adventurer was founded to promote.
On a recent Saturday, I popped in to That Iowa Girl's Outlet Store, which is open six days a week. It opened in 2015. Several of her delivery vehicles were out parked out front.
Colette (That Iowa Girl) was not at the business when I popped in but one of her employees was very kind to visit with me and show me around a bit.
Naturally, a lot of what she stocks and delivers is food and beverage products - both perishable and non-perishable. From wine, meat, and cheese to sauces, mixes, and honey...and a whole lot more.
However, she also sells and delivers the work of other artisans. From bath balls and quilts to cosmetics and jewelry.
If you get through Clarion sometime, be sure to stop into the outlet store on Highway 3. You can find a lot of great everyday items.
As this business continues to grow, it will help an increasingly larger network of Iowa businesses succeed too. Iowans helping Iowans. If we had a lot more of that kind of approach elsewhere in the world, we would certainly have much fewer problems.
